Blog Posts, Comments and Replies
Mind your manners and don't share anything you wouldn't want others to know. It's all public!
DO: Understand what is considered a violation on Todd Michael Rosene’s and LymeNotes social network presence.
A breach or violation is an impermissible use or disclosure that compromises the security or privacy of another party’s protected health information (PHI).
Examples of what is considered a violation include:
-
Posting verbal “gossip” about any individual, even if the name is not disclosed.
-
Sharing of photographs, or any form of PHI without written consent from the individual depicted in the photograph.
-
A mistaken belief that posts are private or have been deleted when they are still visible to the public.
-
Sharing of seemingly innocent comments or pictures, such as “selfies” which happen to have visible medical records, laboratory reports, personal and/or contact information in frame.
DON’T: Post anything you wouldn’t say in public.
As a general rule of thumb, if you wouldn’t make the same comment anywhere else, then don’t put it on social media. Think thrice about sharing your private medical information here, the LymeNotes blog is visible to the general public. If there is any doubt at all about a post, picture or comment you'd like to make then check with (and wait for a reply from) your healthcare provider or even your legal counsel before publishing.
